Hong Kong and Macau in 7 days: four Hong Kong nights, two in Macau
Hong Kong supplies the height and movement: incense-filled temples below apartment towers, the Peak above the harbour, and ferries leaving for a quieter island. Macau changes the scale to tiled squares, church façades, village lanes and long lunches. Give each destination its own nights. Four in Hong Kong and two in Macau let the crossing occupy a morning without turning Macau into a rushed day trip.

- Suggested time
- 7 days, 6 nights: Hong Kong 4 + Macau 2
- Where to stay
- Tsim Sha Tsui for nights 1–4; the Macau peninsula near Avenida de D. João IV for nights 5–6
- Season and timing
- Choose clear days for the Peak and Lantau, and keep the island outing movable within the four Hong Kong days.
The short answer
Book exactly six nights: four in Tsim Sha Tsui in Hong Kong and two on the Macau peninsula, arriving at HKG on day 1 and departing MFM on day 7. Reserve the cross-border sailing and both hotels before paid attractions; Macau needs its own entry check. The route gives days 1–4 to heritage and the Peak, West Kowloon and the harbour, Lantau, and Cheung Chau; cross on day 5, then explore Taipa and Coloane on day 6. Prices checked on 2026-10-16: Cotai Class tickets bought in Hong Kong cost HK$192 for weekday day sailings, HK$209 for weekend or public-holiday day sailings and HK$242 for night sailings. The cash bus fare is MOP$6 per journey; bring the exact fare because buses give no change. The cost model below prices the four Hong Kong nights and the transport; the two Macau nights at Hotel Sintra are not priced.
Book the six nights and the crossing together
Use one Hong Kong base for all four nights: The Salisbury – YMCA of Hong Kong in Tsim Sha Tsui, beside the harbour. The model uses its City View Suite for two registered guests, rather than an assumed inexpensive double. In Macau, keep two nights at Hotel Sintra on Avenida de D. João IV: the peninsula suits the heritage walk and the bus stop at Praça Ferreira Amaral.
The dated example arrives Monday 26 October 2026, sleeps in Hong Kong on 26–29 October, crosses Friday 30 October, sleeps in Macau on 30–31 October, and leaves Sunday 1 November. It assumes an early HKG arrival and an MFM flight at 16:00 or later, with an 11:00 hotel departure as described on day 7. If your arrival is late, move the Peak to day 4 and replace Cheung Chau; keep the same four Hong Kong nights.
Check the Hong Kong entry guide and Macau entry guide for your documents before booking. Permission to enter one destination does not cover the other. The airport flight-search box is for HKG arrivals; book the departure from MFM separately.
Day 1: Sheung Wan heritage, Central and the Peak
After dropping bags in Tsim Sha Tsui, cross to Central by Star Ferry and walk west into Sheung Wan. The Man Mo Temple compound on Hollywood Road includes Man Mo Temple, Lit Shing Kung and Kung Sor. At the temple, look up at the hanging incense coils and then follow Hollywood Road towards PMQ. The former Police Married Quarters now holds designers’ studios and shops; Tai Kwun brings together the former Central Police Station, Central Magistracy and Victoria Prison. These three stops show worship, domestic history and the colonial institutions within one neighbourhood walk.
Access checked on 2026-10-16: Man Mo Temple normally opens from 08:00 to 18:00, with earlier opening on certain dates. PMQ lists studio and shop hours as noon to 19:00, with individual opening hours varying. Use the Central and Sheung Wan walk for a longer version. Keep paid exhibitions outside this short first day.
From Exchange Square, take Citybus 15 to Peak Galleria. Walk around the Galleria for the view, then take a short out-and-back along Lugard Road for the harbour framed by trees. Return before fatigue turns the first evening into a long hike. Sky Terrace 428 is the viewing platform on top of The Peak Tower. The Peak Tram starts at 33 Garden Road and is an optional alternative to the bus. The Peak’s ticket pages did not open on 2026-10-16, so this guide gives no tram fares, service hours or Sky Terrace 428 prices; check them on The Peak’s official booking website before you go.
Peak transport allowance checked on 2026-10-16: the Transport Department route data lists the Citybus 15 Exchange Square–Peak variant with a full fare of HK$13 and a route journey time of 47 minutes. This is the Exchange Square service, not the Central Ferry Piers variant. Its payment note asks passengers to inquire with the operator about the two-way fare arrangement; the model reserves the full fare in each direction without assuming a discount. The Transport Department data does not list route 15’s operating days or its first and last departures, so check them with Citybus before you go, including the last bus down from the Peak. Return to Central, then Star Ferry to Tsim Sha Tsui.

Day 2: West Kowloon, harbour light and Temple Street
Walk to West Kowloon for one museum. Choose M+ for contemporary visual culture, including art, design and moving images; choose the Palace Museum for Chinese court collections. The model uses M+ on Tuesday 27 October. Museum prices and access checked on 2026-10-16: An M+ standard ticket costs HK$190. M+ opens from 10:00 to 18:00 on Tuesdays to Thursdays and weekends, and from 10:00 to 22:00 on Fridays; it normally closes on Mondays, with last admission 30 minutes before closing. M+ is closed on 31 October 2026. M+ opens from 10:00 to 18:00 on Monday 2 November 2026. Book through the museum’s official ticket channel.
The Palace Museum is an alternative on an opening day: A Hong Kong Palace Museum adult regular General Admission ticket costs HK$70, and an adult Flex ticket costs HK$90. Hong Kong Palace Museum opens from 10:00 to 18:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, and from 10:00 to 20:00 on Fridays, Saturdays and public holidays; it closes on Tuesdays except public holidays, and on the first two days of Lunar New Year. Hong Kong Palace Museum Gallery 2 is closed from 14 August 2026 until further notice. Hong Kong Palace Museum Gallery 9 is closed from 1 September 2026 until further notice. Hong Kong Palace Museum Gallery 8 closes from 20 October 2026 until further notice. Its Gallery 5 exhibition, Design for the Forbidden City, focuses on the Qing imperial workshops. Choose a different day if this is your priority: the model Tuesday is its normal closing day. Special exhibitions need their own ticket category.
Return along the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront for the skyline and the Avenue of Stars. Continue to Temple Street in Jordan for an early claypot-rice dinner, then return to the waterfront if you want the light show. This is a substantial walking day; shorten the waterfront loop if necessary. Show details checked on 2026-10-16: A Symphony of Lights starts at 20:00 each evening, subject to weather and emergency cancellations. A Symphony of Lights is free to watch and needs no admission ticket. A Symphony of Lights is cancelled if Typhoon Signal No. 3 or above, or a red or black rainstorm warning, is issued at or after 15:00 that day, even if the warning ends before 20:00.
Day 3: Lantau’s Buddha, monastery and Tai O
Take the Tsuen Wan Line from Tsim Sha Tsui to Lai King and change to the Tung Chung Line for Tung Chung. Ride Ngong Ping 360 uphill for the sea and mountain views, then walk through Ngong Ping towards Tian Tan Buddha and Po Lin Monastery. The Buddha’s 268 steps are a separate physical commitment; the monastery halls and gardens make a rewarding visit without treating the staircase as compulsory.
Lantau access and fares checked on 2026-10-16: a standard-cabin single cable-car ticket costs HK$205 per adult and the ride takes about 25 minutes. Ngong Ping 360 lists 10:00–18:00 on weekdays and 09:00–18:30 on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Its maintenance calendar listed no scheduled maintenance day at the check date; use the operating calendar for your date and book through the operator’s website. Online reservations open up to 14 days ahead.
Po Lin’s visitor page lists the Buddha open 10:00–17:30 and its Big Buddha page 10:00–17:00, so plan to reach the Buddha by 17:00; the monastery is open 09:00–18:00 daily, including public holidays. A current Buddha and monastery admission tariff is unavailable; allow for any admission charged at the entrance. No area is treated as free in the cost model. Wisdom Path is temporarily closed for refurbishment from 5 June 2025; leave it out of the walk.
Continue on New Lantao Bus 21 from Ngong Ping to Tai O for the village lanes, waterways and stilt houses, then return on bus 11 to Tung Chung and the MTR. Route 21 leaves Ngong Ping 07:30–18:15 Monday–Saturday, with the 17:45 departure on Saturdays only, and 07:30–18:30 Sundays/public holidays; it takes about 18 minutes and costs HK$7.90 Monday–Saturday excluding public holidays or HK$19.20 on Sundays/public holidays. Bus 11 leaves Tai O 05:15–00:15 daily; its route variants make stops via correctional institutions or North Lantau Hospital. The published journey time is about 52 minutes, and the fare is HK$14 or HK$23.30 respectively. Pay on boarding with Octopus or exact cash. Leave Tai O well before the final buses.
If you prefer the bus uphill, route 23 runs from Tung Chung Tat Tung Road to Ngong Ping 07:15–18:10 Monday–Saturday or 08:10–18:10 Sundays/public holidays, about 50 minutes, costing HK$20.40 or HK$37 respectively. This replaces the cable car, not the Tai O legs. The adult Octopus or contactless fare between Tsim Sha Tsui and Tung Chung is HK$18.70 each way. The Lantau guide expands the village walk; no wildlife boat trip is part of this itinerary.
Day 4: Cheung Chau, or one full-day replacement
Cross from Tsim Sha Tsui to Central, walk to Pier 5 and take Sun Ferry to Cheung Chau. Follow Pak She Praya Road past the moored boats, turn inland for Pak Tai Temple’s main hall and dragon-carved pillars, and cross the village to Tung Wan and Kwun Yam beaches. Continue only as far along the Mini Great Wall as your energy permits: the paved coast path has an initially steep approach, stone railings and sea views. The beaches here are sightseeing stops; this plan does not depend on swimming or entering a cave.
Island ferry details checked on 2026-10-16: the example takes the 09:00 ordinary ferry from Central and the 18:20 ordinary ferry back on Thursday. Ordinary-class adult singles cost HK$16.70 Monday–Saturday excluding public holidays, or HK$24.80 Sundays/public holidays. Ordinary ferries take about 55–60 minutes, subject to harbour speed restrictions, traffic, weather and sea conditions. Buy at the pier for the current sailing or use Octopus; advance purchase is not allowed and seats are first come, first served. The posted times are gate-closing times, so reach the pier before them.
Disneyland or Ocean Park can replace this entire day if rides matter more than an island. Use the Hong Kong theme-park comparison to choose one and its dated ticket; neither park is an evening addition after Cheung Chau. For ordinary wet weather, swap this outing with the museum day while respecting each museum’s closure calendar. If outdoor travel remains unsuitable, spend the day in operating museums and indoor heritage spaces and omit the island; no extra night is hidden in the plan.

Day 5: cross to Macau and walk the UNESCO centre
Check out, take the Tsuen Wan Line from Tsim Sha Tsui to Central and walk via the streets to Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal at Shun Tak Centre in Sheung Wan. Cross in the morning on Cotai Water Jet to Taipa, then board Transmac 26 at T345 Terminal Marítimo de Passageiros da Taipa towards Bacia Norte do Patane and ride to T326 Estrada Gov. A. Oliveira, the stop with the LRT symbol. There board TCM 22 on its return leg towards Praça Ferreira Amaral and ride to M172 Praça Ferreira Amaral. The route charts give no walking distances or journey times to Hotel Sintra, so check the walk on a map. Crossing details checked on 2026-10-16: Cotai Water Jet takes about one hour between Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal and Macau Taipa Ferry Terminal. Cotai Water Jet’s Sheung Wan–Macau Taipa timetable ran from 07:30 to 22:30. Cotai Water Jet’s night fares start at 17:10 from October to January, 17:40 in February, March and September, and 18:00 from April to August. Buy Cotai Water Jet tickets through its website, smartphone app or terminal ticket offices; phone and email bookings are unavailable. Collect Cotai Water Jet tickets at least 30 minutes before departure. For Cotai Water Jet departures from Sheung Wan or Taipa, collect or buy the ticket, pass the check-in gate and immigration, collect a seat assignment and board.
Check the terminal’s check-in deadline on your Cotai Water Jet ticket and arrive early enough for immigration. Cotai Water Jet includes one hand-carried bag weighing no more than 20 kg and measuring no more than 56 × 36 × 23 cm. Reserve Cotai Water Jet’s checked-luggage service with customer service by 16:00 the day before departure; spaces are limited and allocated first come, first served. For Cotai Water Jet checked luggage, arrive 30–45 minutes before departure; the service operates 08:30–21:00 in Hong Kong and 10:00–22:00 in Macau. Cotai Water Jet charged HK$25 cash per checked bag up to 20 kg from Hong Kong, or HK$25/MOP$25 cash from Macau; each bag must fit within 76 × 23 × 56 cm and each passenger may check up to two bags. For route alternatives, use the Hong Kong to Macau crossing guide; HZMB is a different port-to-port journey, not a city-centre coach.
After leaving your bags, begin with Senado Square and its patterned paving, then walk through St Dominic’s Square to the Ruins of St Paul’s. The Historic Centre of Macao brings together monuments and urban squares in the city centre and joined the World Heritage List in 2005. The Ruins of St Paul’s preserve the façade of the Church of Mater Dei, which was destroyed by fire in 1835. Look closely at the façade before climbing to Mount Fortress for the change in perspective. St Dominic’s Church and Dom Pedro V Theatre are temporarily closed; plan exterior stops rather than interior visits.
Heritage access checked on 2026-10-16: The Museum of Sacred Art and Crypt is free to enter; it opens 09:00–18:00 with last admission at 17:30, and closes at 14:00 on Tuesdays. Mount Fortress and its gardens open 07:00–19:00. If your sailing or immigration takes longer, keep Senado Square and St Paul’s and leave the fortress for another visit. A-Ma Temple and Mandarin’s House form an optional southern heritage walk in place of the fortress; Guia is a separate northern hill detour, not another compulsory stop after the crossing.
Day 6: Taipa houses, Portuguese lunch and Coloane
Take Transmac 26A southbound from M172 Praça Ferreira Amaral to T403 Esparteiro/Regency, then walk into Taipa. The Taipa Houses are five green former residences along Avenida da Praia, beside Our Lady of Carmel Church and its garden. The Macanese Living Museum in the Taipa Houses recreates scenes of daily life from Macau’s past. The residential rooms and garden setting make a useful contrast with the large resorts behind them. Access checked on 2026-10-16: The Taipa Houses open 10:00–19:00, with last admission at 18:30, and close on Mondays. Admission to the Taipa Houses is free.
Rua do Cunha is a pedestrian street in the heart of Taipa village, lined with longstanding restaurants. Walk the lanes around Rua do Cunha, then sit down to a Portuguese cod dish or Macanese African chicken at António. The former foregrounds salt cod and eggs; the latter brings peanut, coconut and spice to the plate. These are different strands of Macau’s cooking, worth giving a lunch rather than only a snack queue.
Return to T403 and continue southbound on 26A to C660 Assoc. de M. de Coloane. Coloane’s old fishing-village streets have cafés, art spaces and murals. Walk around the Chapel of St Francis Xavier, whose cream-and-white façade and bell tower face the village square, then take the waterfront lanes and stop at Lord Stow’s original bakery. This village is the afternoon’s destination; Hac Sa beach or a Cotai resort interior is an optional replacement, not an additional tour.
Return to the peninsula on northbound route 26A from C659 Vila de Coloane/Rua da Cordoaria to M172 Praça Ferreira Amaral. Keep the second Macau night at the same hotel. You do not need to take luggage around the islands or change to a resort hotel.
Day 7: leave from MFM; keep HKG as a separate variant
Check out after the second Macau night. Take 26A from M172 Praça Ferreira Amaral towards Hac Sa to T364 Est. Baía N. S. Esperança/Quartel, the southbound stop that the chart marks with an LRT interchange symbol. The chart does not name the station, so confirm that you are at Pai Kok LRT station, then ride towards Taipa Ferry Terminal, alighting at Airport. The network’s Union Hospital stop is excluded from fare counting for this through journey: Pai Kok–Airport is six chargeable stations, giving a calculated MOP$8 adult single-token fare. Airport station connects directly to the passenger terminal at Macau International Airport.
Rail details checked on 2026-10-16: Adult LRT single-journey fares are MOP$6 for up to three chargeable stations, MOP$8 for up to six, MOP$10 for up to nine and MOP$12 for up to twelve. Union Hospital counts towards the fare only when a journey starts or ends at Union Hospital or Seac Pai Van. LRT single-journey tokens for passengers aged 12 and over are sold at station ticket machines and customer service centres and are valid on the day of issue. Pai Kok departures towards Taipa Ferry Terminal run 06:31–23:26 Monday–Thursday and 06:31–00:10 Friday–Sunday/public holidays in the September 2026 timetable. These are station departures, not an airport arrival guarantee. For this itinerary, choose an MFM flight departing at 16:00 or later and leave Hotel Sintra by 11:00. Our editorial two-hour transfer reserve allocates 20 minutes to the walks, 40 minutes to the bus and its wait, 30 minutes to the LRT and its wait, and 30 minutes to contingency, targeting the terminal by 13:00. These are planning allowances, not published running times. Leave earlier if your airline requires more than three hours before departure; an early flight needs a separately priced taxi or a revised final-night plan.
HKG return variant: if flying home from Hong Kong, keep the same six nights only with a suitably late flight and a substantial crossing/immigration buffer. Take a city ferry from Taipa to Sheung Wan, clear Hong Kong immigration, walk to Hong Kong Station and take Airport Express to HKG. Recheck your Hong Kong entry permission. An early HKG flight calls for a different final-night allocation and a new hotel budget.
Do not treat an airport-transit ferry as interchangeable with that city route. SkyPier ferry services are for airport transit passengers and cannot be used after entering Hong Kong through immigration. Cotai Water Jet’s HKIA SkyPier–Macau Taipa route was available for charter only. The city-return variant adds a ferry, local connection and Airport Express fare; none is in the MFM core subtotal. Mainland China needs its own entry check; this site does not cover it.

Transport and weather: use the right service for each leg
Hong Kong arrival prices and service checked on 2026-10-16: Airport Express adult single fares to or from the airport are HK$120 for Hong Kong Station, HK$105 for Kowloon and HK$73 for Tsing Yi using Octopus, a contactless bank card or an eligible QR code; smart tickets cost HK$130, HK$115 and HK$80 respectively. Airport Express trains from the airport towards the city run from 05:54 to 00:48; the timetable effective from 13 September 2026 gives 24 minutes to Hong Kong Station, 22 minutes to Kowloon and 14 minutes to Tsing Yi. Airport Express normally runs every 10 minutes, with gaps of up to 12 minutes in the early morning and late evening. Buy Airport Express single or round-trip tickets at a Customer Service Centre, a ticket machine or online; online QR tickets let you enter the gates directly. The model uses Hong Kong Station, walks to Central MTR Station and takes the Tsuen Wan Line to Tsim Sha Tsui with luggage. Under MTR’s Free MTR Connections, that MTR ride costs nothing when you tap the same Octopus, contactless bank card or QR code for the Airport Express single and the MTR ride within one hour of arrival, so pay both with one card. It does not buy a return Airport Express ticket for an MFM departure.
Hong Kong local service checked on 2026-10-16: Star Ferry adult single fares between Central and Tsim Sha Tsui are HK$5 on the upper deck or HK$4 on the lower deck Monday–Friday excluding public holidays; on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays they are HK$6.50 and HK$5.60 respectively. Star Ferry runs between Central and Tsim Sha Tsui from 06:30 to 23:30 daily, with departures every 6–12 minutes depending on the time and day. Pay for Star Ferry with Octopus at the gates or with Hong Kong dollar cash, or buy a ticket at the pier’s self-service machine with a credit card or one of the supported digital wallets. MTR accepts Visa, Mastercard and UnionPay contactless credit, debit and prepaid cards, excluding UnionPay debit cards; use the same physical card or device to tap in and out at the designated gates. Use the MTR Trip Planner for your stations’ fare, route and first and last trains. The Tsuen Wan Line links Central and Tsim Sha Tsui; the adult Octopus or contactless single fare is HK$10.60. Star Ferry allows items no larger than 40 cm long, 40 cm wide and 17.5 cm high.
Macau local service checked on 2026-10-16: Transmac route 26A runs southbound towards Hac Sa from M172 Praça Ferreira Amaral via T403 Esparteiro/Regency, T364 Est. Baía N. S. Esperança/Quartel and C660 Assoc. de M. de Coloane to C669 Praia de Hac Sá, and northbound from C659 Vila de Coloane/Rua da Cordoaria back to M172. Route 26A’s terminal departures run from 06:00 to 00:30 towards Hac Sa and from 06:00 to 01:00 towards Bacia Norte do Patane. Its published frequency range is 8–15 minutes Monday–Saturday except public holidays, and 10–16 minutes on Sundays and public holidays. Transmac route 26 runs northbound from T345 Terminal Marítimo de Passageiros da Taipa towards its terminus at M95 Rua Norte do Patane/Bacia Norte do Patane on the peninsula. Route 26 leaves its starting terminus from 06:00 to 23:30 daily; published frequencies range from 16–25 minutes Monday–Saturday except public holidays, and 20–25 minutes on Sundays and public holidays. Terminal departure spans are not first and last departures at intermediate stops; intermediate-stop departures depend on traffic. TCM route 22 is a circular route with a fare of MOP$6 per journey; its return leg runs from T326 Estrada Gov. A. Oliveira to M172 Praça Ferreira Amaral. Pay the bus fare on boarding; local buses need no reserved seat. Most stop codes on these routes serve one direction only: on route 26A, T403, T364 and C660 are southbound only and C659 is northbound only.
Keep weather flexibility within Hong Kong before the booked crossing, and leave travel slack before the flight. Typhoons affect Hong Kong from May to November and can cause flooding and landslides; when Typhoon Signal No. 8 or higher is issued, public offices and public transport shut down, so get indoors and do not set out again until the Hong Kong Observatory lowers the signal and your operator confirms service. From Signal No. 3, stay away from the shore and avoid water activities, and under a Black Rainstorm Warning expect serious disruption and closures of public facilities and follow the Hong Kong Observatory and local authorities’ instructions. Typhoons hit Macau regularly between April and November and can cause flooding and landslides; public offices shut when Typhoon Signal No. 8 is issued, and from Signal No. 3 you should stay away from the shore and avoid water activities. Follow the Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau’s warnings and local authorities’ instructions, and check with the operator before any ferry crossing. Cotai Water Jet suspends all sailings when Typhoon Signal No. 8 or higher is hoisted. Cotai Water Jet may suspend services for safety when the Hong Kong Observatory and Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau announce Strong Wind Signal No. 3. Sun Ferry posts island-service suspensions and resumptions on its website and app.
What six nights and the route cost for two adults
Model checked on 2026-10-16 for two adults sharing one room, arriving 26 October and leaving 1 November 2026. The Salisbury – YMCA of Hong Kong’s 125 Memories of Love offer costs HK$1,901 per City View Suite per night, plus a 10% service charge. The Salisbury offer includes buffet breakfast for two registered guests at The Haven. The Salisbury offer runs until 15 December 2026, excluding 1–5 May, 1–7 July and 1–7 October, with all blackout dates inclusive. For two adults sharing the City View Suite for four nights, 26–29 October 2026, allow about HK$8,364 for the room and the included breakfasts, including the 10% service charge. The Salisbury is exempt from hotel accommodation tax.
The Salisbury offer is subject to availability, must be confirmed and guaranteed at least 7 days before check-in, and is non-refundable, with cancellation charged at 100% of the entire stay. The Salisbury offer cannot be combined with other promotions and does not apply to existing reservations or groups. Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights add HK$200 per room per night, plus a 10% service charge on that supplement. For this check-in, confirm and guarantee by 19 October. The four Hong Kong nights are Monday–Thursday and do not trigger the weekend supplement.
The supported priced portion is about HK$10,077 plus MOP$88 for the party, with the Peak full-fare allowance stated above. The day 5 city MTR ride uses an adult contactless bank-card fare; the arrival ride is free when paid with the same card as the Airport Express. Keep the currencies separate. This is not a complete six-night trip total: the two Macau nights and any Buddha/monastery admission are not priced. Hotel Sintra’s website lists its room types and sizes but publishes no dated two-adult room rate for 30–31 October, so ask the hotel for a room-and-charges quote covering Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October.
Excluded: meals beyond the four included Hong Kong breakfasts, flights, checked-luggage fees, optional taxis, Peak Tram and Sky Terrace 428 tickets, special exhibitions, parks, boat outings, shopping and personal extras.
- Hong Kong hotel, four City View Suite nights including breakfasts: HK$1,901 × 4 × 1.10 = HK$8,364.40 including the 10% service charge; hotel accommodation tax does not apply.
- HKG arrival: two Airport Express adult singles to Hong Kong Station × HK$120 = HK$240. Walk to Central MTR Station and tap the same card or Octopus for the MTR ride to Tsim Sha Tsui within one hour of arrival.
- Star Ferry: four weekday upper-deck singles per adult—two on day 1 and two on day 4—2 × 4 × HK$5 = HK$40. The day 5 luggage leg instead uses Central–Tsim Sha Tsui MTR: 2 adults × 1 single × HK$10.60 = HK$21.20. The arrival leg to Tsim Sha Tsui is free under MTR’s Free MTR Connections when the same card pays the Airport Express and the MTR ride within one hour, so it adds HK$0. Walk Central–Hong Kong Station and Central–Shun Tak Centre as applicable. Other city legs are walked.
- Peak bus: two adults × two directions × HK$13 published full-fare allowance = HK$52. M+: two standard tickets × HK$190 = HK$380.
- Lantau MTR return: 2 × 2 × HK$18.70 = HK$74.80; cable car uphill 2 × HK$205 = HK$410; bus 21 2 × HK$7.90 = HK$15.80; bus 11 2 × HK$14 = HK$28.
- Cheung Chau: two adults × two ordinary-class singles × HK$16.70 = HK$66.80.
- Hong Kong–Taipa: two weekday-day Cotai Class tickets bought in Hong Kong × HK$192 = HK$384. HK$ sum: HK$10,077.00 before the stated additions.
- Macau buses: day 5 ferry–peninsula twice (route 26 to T326, then route 22), day 6 peninsula–Taipa–Coloane–peninsula three times, day 7 peninsula–Pai Kok once: 2 × 6 × MOP$6 = MOP$72. Airport LRT: 2 × MOP$8 = MOP$16. MOP$ subtotal: MOP$88.
- Macau hotel: two nights at Hotel Sintra, 30–31 October, not priced here. Taipa Houses and the Crypt add no admission charge; core square, façade, village and public Peak walks carry no ticket allowance.
- Bus 23 replacing the cable car reduces the HK$ priced portion by HK$369.20. Replacing M+ with two Palace Museum regular General Admission tickets reduces it by HK$240, but requires an opening-day swap.
Practical questions
Is this seven days or seven nights?
Seven days and six nights: four Hong Kong nights, followed by two Macau nights. Cross on day 5 and depart Macau International Airport on day 7. Day 7 does not contain another hotel night.
Should I sleep in Macau or make it a day trip?
Sleep two nights for this route. The crossing morning still leaves a heritage afternoon; the second day gives Taipa and Coloane a full outing, and departure happens the following day.
Can I fit Disneyland and Cheung Chau into day 4?
Choose one full-day outing. Disneyland or Ocean Park replaces Cheung Chau, with its own ticket budget. If a late day-1 arrival pushes the Peak to day 4, omit the island or park.
Does the cost estimate include every hotel night?
The itinerary assigns all six nights, but only the four Hong Kong City View Suite nights are priced. Add a Hotel Sintra quote for both Macau nights and any Buddha/monastery admission to the separate HK$ and MOP$ priced portions. Meals beyond included Hong Kong breakfasts and flights are excluded.
Can I fly home from HKG instead?
Yes, with the separately described city-ferry return and enough time for Hong Kong immigration and Airport Express. An early flight requires a different final-night plan. Airport transit services have separate eligibility and are not substitutes for a city ferry.
