Hong Kong Disneyland or Ocean Park: choose one full park day
Hong Kong’s two major theme parks offer very different days. Disneyland builds its worlds around Disney stories, from Arendelle’s waterfront to the eccentric towers of Mystic Manor. Ocean Park puts pandas, reef life and rides above the South China Sea in one outing. Choose the park that matches the people travelling, then give it the time to feel like a day out.

- Suggested time
- 1 full park day within a 5-day, 4-night Hong Kong stay
- Where to stay
- Four nights in Tsim Sha Tsui, returning to the same city hotel after the park.
- Season and timing
- Use the date-specific park calendars for opening days, seasonal entertainment and closures. Keep one city day flexible for the park outing.
The short answer
Book four city nights for a five-day Hong Kong stay, with one full day for Disneyland or Ocean Park. Keep Tsim Sha Tsui as the base and choose the park date before buying admission; Disneyland also requires a park reservation. Checked on 2026-10-16: Ocean Park General Admission costs HK$538 per adult aged 12 or above, and the adult Octopus or contactless rail fare from Tsim Sha Tsui to Ocean Park is HK$13.20 each way. The cost model chooses Ocean Park; Disneyland is a full-day alternative with its own date-tier ticket. Give a second park another day and ticket.
One park day, four nights in Tsim Sha Tsui
Hong Kong Disneyland suits a day built around Disney stories, character encounters and theatrical worlds. Ocean Park suits a mix of pandas, an aquarium, sea views and thrill rides. Pick the experiences your party actually wants, then give that park the whole day. Travelling between the two would use a large part of the time bought with two tickets.
Keep four nights at The Salisbury – YMCA of Hong Kong in Tsim Sha Tsui for a five-day stay. A city base gives the other days to neighbourhoods and keeps both park choices open. The Hong Kong where-to-stay guide compares the wider districts. The park hotels are optional alternatives: Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel, Disney Explorers Lodge and Disney’s Hollywood Hotel keep a Disney stay near the resort; they are not part of this city-suite budget.
- Day 1, Monday 26 October 2026: arrive at HKG and take Airport Express to Hong Kong Station. Hong Kong Station connects to Central Station. Take the Tsuen Wan Line from Central to Tsim Sha Tsui. Check in and walk the waterfront; make a city meal part of the evening.
- Day 2: explore Tsim Sha Tsui and walk north through Jordan towards Temple Street, with the local food stops below. Return to the same hotel.
- Day 3, Wednesday 28 October: provisionally hold this for Ocean Park, subject to its dated opening calendar. If it is closed, exchange it with the city day or choose Disneyland with the matching ticket and park reservation. Return to Tsim Sha Tsui afterwards, keeping luggage at the hotel.
- Day 4: keep a city day available to exchange with the park if the weather or attraction calendar changes. A second park can replace this city day, with another admission ticket and return rail fare; it is not an extra stop on day 3.
- Day 5, Friday 30 October: check out and take the Tsuen Wan Line from Tsim Sha Tsui to Central. Central Station connects to Hong Kong Station. Take Airport Express from there to HKG. This is a four-night stay, with departure on the fifth day.
Disneyland: Arendelle, Mystic Point and the castle
The Castle of Magical Dreams anchors the park against Lantau’s mountains. World of Frozen recreates Arendelle beside the water: Frozen Ever After is a boat journey to Elsa’s Ice Palace, while Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs is a coaster through the landscape. For a party whose main reason to come is Frozen, start with this land and let it shape the day.
Mystic Point and its Mystic Manor, the mine-train attraction Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars in Grizzly Gulch, and Tomorrowland’s Iron Man Experience and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle! offer a different side of this Disney park. Fantasyland includes “it’s a small world”; Toy Story Land turns the scale around so that visitors walk among Andy’s toys. Choose a few priorities, leaving time for the streets and scenery between them.
Indoor shows such as Festival of the Lion King and Mickey and the Wondrous Book can break up the walking. Friendtastic! is a parade, and Momentous is the nighttime spectacular; use the official calendar for the actual performance date and time. A daytime attraction list is not a promise that every show runs on your day.
For the model’s October dates, Disney’s 17 September 2026 announcement puts Disney Halloween Time from 18 September to 1 November 2026, with Mickey’s Happy Halloween Adventure at the castle and returning Let’s Get Wicked. Choose the daytime family programme or the villain performances to suit the party; the seasonal names do not establish a daily show time.

Ocean Park: aquarium below, coast and rides above
Ocean Park spreads across the Waterfront and the Summit. The cable car is part of the experience, following the green hillside above the south coast; Ocean Express provides another connection between the two areas. Group your attractions by area so that the day does not become repeated trips up and down the hill.
The Grand Aquarium brings sharks, rays, reef life and fish into the same day as the giant pandas. This is the stronger choice when animal exhibits matter more than Disney characters. At the Summit, Hair Raiser, The Flash and The Rapids suit visitors looking for bigger rides, and Ocean Park’s own ride pages set the limits: Hair Raiser needs a height of 140 cm; The Flash needs 137 cm to 195 cm and an age of 12 or above; The Rapids needs 120 cm, and a child of 120 cm or more rides with a person aged 15 or above who is also at least 120 cm. Families can instead build a gentler visit around the Sea Life Carousel, which lists a 107 cm height requirement and an adult for anyone below 107 cm or aged below 5, and other children’s attractions.
If Ocean Park’s calendar confirms your chosen day, arrive for its published opening and start at the Waterfront with the aquarium and pandas. Have lunch inside the park (the meals section gives Neptune’s lunch hours), make one Summit circuit and return towards the entrance with room for the rail changes. Choose the actual departure time after comparing that day’s closing programme with the complete MTR return itinerary.
Water World Ocean Park is a separate water park. Buy its own admission or a product that explicitly includes both parks if that is what you want; an Ocean Park day is not a water-slide day.

Tickets, reservations and the checks that change a purchase
Checked on 2026-10-16: Disneyland’s public Ticket Tier Calendar uses Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 and Tier 4. Its published data assigns 28 October 2026 to Tier 1, 26 October to Tier 2 and 23 December to Tier 3. The calendar describes operating days and ticket tiers, not reservation availability.
For Disneyland, choose the visit date in the tier calendar, select the matching admission category at purchase, then complete the park-visit reservation with the valid ticket. The resort’s current Halloween announcement requires tickets bought in advance and a valid park reservation; the calendar directs ticket holders to its Park Visit Reservation page after purchase. Keep both the ticket and reservation details for arrival.
Hong Kong Disneyland’s September 2023 ticket announcement set four 1-Day ticket tiers, with General Admission for ages 12 to 64, Child for ages 3 to 11, a Senior ticket for guests aged 65 and above, and a 30% discount on every tier except senior tickets for eligible guests with disabilities. Disneyland’s ticket and help pages could not be read when we checked on 16 October 2026, so its current prices and its change and refund conditions are not given here; read both on its ticket page before you pay.
Checked on 2026-10-16: Ocean Park’s official General Admission product costs HK$538 for adults aged 12 or above and HK$269 for children aged 3–11; children under 3 enter free. This product is valid for 180 days from purchase, and buyers do not need an online reservation for their visit date. It is one admission during the ticket’s validity and park opening hours, not a ticket to every separately charged special event.
At Ocean Park’s official ticketing site, choose Tickets / Packages, then General Admission Ticket and the adult or child quantities. Review the product, select any add-ons, enter the order information and pay. Keep the e-ticket on your phone or print it on A4 paper. General tickets are non-transferable, non-exchangeable and non-refundable; specific events can require separate tickets.
Children aged 11 or below must be accompanied by a guardian aged 15 or above when entering and staying in Ocean Park, with identification available for age checks. Resident senior and disability benefits have their own Hong Kong document requirements and should not be treated as general visitor discounts.
Hong Kong Disneyland’s attraction and help pages also could not be read when we checked, so its ride height, age and wheelchair-transfer limits are not repeated here; check each ride you plan on its attraction page before you book. If coaster eligibility is uncertain, build the choice around Ocean Park’s aquarium and pandas or Disneyland’s indoor shows instead.
Rail from Tsim Sha Tsui and the evening return
For Disneyland, take the Tsuen Wan Line from Tsim Sha Tsui towards Tsuen Wan, change at Lai King for the Tung Chung Line towards Tung Chung, then at Sunny Bay for the Disneyland Resort Line. Return by the same changes. For Ocean Park, take the Tsuen Wan Line towards Central to Admiralty, then the South Island Line towards South Horizons to Ocean Park. Return via Admiralty. The Hong Kong transport guide covers the wider payment choices.
Checked on 2026-10-16: on MTR’s adult Octopus and contactless fare chart effective from 20 September 2026, Tsim Sha Tsui–Disneyland Resort costs HK$22.20 each way; Tsim Sha Tsui–Sunny Bay is HK$15.90 and Tsim Sha Tsui–Ocean Park is HK$13.20. The Sunny Bay amount is a comparison, not an extra charge to add to the through fare for Disneyland Resort.
Checked on 2026-10-16: MTR lists Disneyland Resort–Sunny Bay departures from 06:20 to 00:40 the following day. Sunny Bay’s Hong Kong-bound Tung Chung Line runs 06:09–00:50, while Lai King’s Central-bound Tsuen Wan Line runs 06:07–00:37. These are separate station service ranges: the last Disney branch train does not provide a connection to the last Tsim Sha Tsui train via Lai King. Use the Trip Planner for the complete return journey, and leave earlier than the last-train sequence.
For the Ocean Park return, the same check listed Ocean Park–Admiralty trains 06:06–00:48 and Admiralty’s Tsuen Wan-bound trains 06:07–00:56. Tsim Sha Tsui’s outward Tsuen Wan-bound service was 06:11–00:59; Admiralty’s South Horizons-bound service was 06:11–01:05. Times after midnight are on the following day. MTR says passengers may not pass through the entry gates less than 5 minutes before the scheduled last train; allow more time for the interchange rather than aiming at that limit.
Ocean Park’s Park Calendar did not show the opening and closing times for 28 October 2026 when we checked on 16 October 2026; open the calendar for your date before you fix the day. Use Disneyland’s daily calendar for its hours and show times. MTR’s fare and service-hours pages give fares and first and last trains, not door-to-door journey times, so use MTR’s Trip Planner for the complete journey and choose an earlier finish if the closing programme leaves too little return margin.

City meals around the park day
The four-night city base leaves room for Hong Kong food before and after the park. On the first evening or a city-day lunch, stay close to Tsim Sha Tsui for beef balls; a walk north through Jordan and Temple Street gives you eggs and toast, claypot rice and an oyster pancake. These are choices across the stay, not four meals to fit around one park visit. Use the Tsim Sha Tsui and Kowloon guide for the city walk.
For the Ocean Park day, choose an in-park lunch at Neptune’s Restaurant in the Grand Aquarium rather than leaving for a city meal; Ginger Grill and Tuxedos Restaurant are other named options. Neptune’s lists its “A New Taste of Classic Cuisine” set lunch for 11:00 to 17:00 at HK$388 to HK$428 per person depending on the main course, with soup, vegetables, dessert, rice and coffee or tea included and a 10% service charge on top; tables are limited to 90 minutes during 11:00 to 15:00. As an editorial allowance, not a quote, set aside about HK$950 for two adults’ lunch there (the dearest set main with service charge is HK$470.80 each); it is not part of the HK$9,966 total. We did not read menu prices for the other Ocean Park restaurants. Disneyland’s dining pages could not be read when we checked, so its menus and prices are not repeated here; a Disneyland hotel meal also needs its own time in the day.

- An alternative city breakfast before departure if flight timing leaves room; the suite model already includes hotel breakfast.
Weather and a flexible day
Typhoons affect Hong Kong from May to November and can cause flooding and landslides; when Typhoon Signal No. 8 or higher is issued, public offices and public transport shut down, so get indoors and do not set out again until the Hong Kong Observatory lowers the signal and your operator confirms service. From Signal No. 3, stay away from the shore and avoid water activities, and under a Black Rainstorm Warning expect serious disruption and closures of public facilities and follow the Hong Kong Observatory and local authorities’ instructions.
Ocean Park’s weather page adds that its outdoor mechanical rides stop under Strong Wind Signal No. 3, and that if Signal No. 8 or above is announced in advance during park hours it stops on-site ticket sales two hours before and arranges for all guests to leave. Its official ticket terms say that severe weather, including Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above and black rainstorm warnings, may close the park with or without prior notice. Individual attractions can also stop for weather or maintenance, and an attraction suspension does not by itself produce a ticket refund. Follow Hong Kong Observatory warnings and the parks’ actual service notices before leaving the hotel. Indoor exhibits and shows give the day variety in ordinary rain; they are not a reason to travel during a warning that calls for shelter.

A dated two-adult Ocean Park stay budget
This model is two adults sharing one City View Suite for four nights, 26–29 October 2026, checking out on 30 October. It prices one Ocean Park visit during the stay, subject to the selected day’s opening calendar; the city days use walks from the hotel and no paid city attractions. Checked on 2026-10-16: For two adults sharing the City View Suite for four nights, 26–29 October 2026, allow about HK$8,364 for the room and the included breakfasts, including the 10% service charge. The Salisbury is exempt from hotel accommodation tax.
The Salisbury – YMCA of Hong Kong’s 125 Memories of Love offer costs HK$1,901 per City View Suite per night, plus a 10% service charge. The Salisbury offer includes buffet breakfast for two registered guests at The Haven. The Salisbury offer runs until 15 December 2026, excluding 1–5 May, 1–7 July and 1–7 October, with all blackout dates inclusive. Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights add HK$200 per room per night, plus a 10% service charge on that supplement.
The Salisbury offer is subject to availability, must be confirmed and guaranteed at least 7 days before check-in, and is non-refundable, with cancellation charged at 100% of the entire stay. The Salisbury offer cannot be combined with other promotions and does not apply to existing reservations or groups.
Checked on 2026-10-16: Airport Express adult round-trip smart tickets cost HK$215 for Hong Kong Station, HK$195 for Kowloon and HK$130 for Tsing Yi; each is station-specific and valid for one return journey within 30 days of issue. The Tsuen Wan Line links Central and Tsim Sha Tsui; the adult Octopus or contactless single fare is HK$10.60. Buy Airport Express single or round-trip tickets at a Customer Service Centre, a ticket machine or online; online QR tickets let you enter the gates directly.
The room, listed ground transport and two Ocean Park admission tickets total about HK$9,966 for two adults. The Disneyland alternative has a room-and-ground subtotal of about HK$8,926 before its two admission tickets; add the current tariff for the selected date before comparing the final totals.
If you use day 4 for Disneyland as a second park, add its two admission tickets and HK$88.80 for the two-adult return rail journey separately. The same four-night stay can accommodate this by giving up the flexible city day; keeping that city day as well means a six-day, five-night trip and another separately priced room night.
Not included: flights, meals beyond the included breakfasts, drinks, Disneyland admission, priority-access products, seasonal-event supplements, Water World, shopping, optional taxis and extra city transport.
- Four-night suite: 4 × HK$1,901 = HK$7,604 room rate; add HK$760.40 service charge, for HK$8,364.40.
- Airport Express return tickets for two: 2 × HK$215 = HK$430.
- Central–Tsim Sha Tsui on arrival and departure, paid separately by bank card: 2 adults × 2 single journeys × HK$10.60 = HK$42.40.
- Disneyland return for two: 4 × HK$22.20 = HK$88.80; room and ground subtotal HK$8,925.60.
- Ocean Park return for two: 4 × HK$13.20 = HK$52.80; admission for two: 2 × HK$538 = HK$1,076. Room + airport legs + Ocean Park rail + admission = HK$9,965.60.
Practical questions
Should we choose Disneyland or Ocean Park?
Choose Disneyland for Disney characters, World of Frozen, Mystic Manor and stage entertainment. Choose Ocean Park for giant pandas, the aquarium, coastal cable-car views and larger thrill rides. Base the choice on the attractions your party can and wants to use.
Can we visit both parks in one day?
Give each park a full day. The model includes one park day; a second park can replace the flexible city day, adding another ticket and return rail fare. Keeping both parks and both city days needs an extra day and night.
Does a Disneyland ticket guarantee a park reservation?
The ticket-tier calendar does not show reservation availability. Buy for the chosen date and complete the valid-ticket park reservation before visiting; keep the confirmation with the ticket.
Is Water World included with Ocean Park?
Treat Water World as a separate purchase unless the exact product explicitly includes both parks. It has its own water attractions and ticket products.
What does the budget for two adults include?
About HK$9,966 covers one City View Suite for four nights, the included breakfasts, the listed Airport Express and MTR journeys, and two Ocean Park General Admission tickets. Add flights, the other meals and optional extras. The Disneyland comparison leaves its current admission tariff on top of the room-and-ground subtotal.
Can we rely on the last Disneyland Resort train?
No: the final branch train does not guarantee the later changes needed for Tsim Sha Tsui. Check the complete journey in MTR’s Trip Planner and leave earlier than the final train sequence.
