Hong Kong to Macau: ferry or bridge, fares and a four-day plan

The city ferries put the choice in the arrival pier: Outer Harbour for Macau’s peninsula, or Taipa for the islands. The bridge shuttle starts and finishes at border ports, so its lower ticket price comes with local journeys at both ends. For a first visit from central Hong Kong, take Cotai Water Jet to Taipa, spend a night on the peninsula and use the next day for Taipa and Coloane before returning. This guide keeps the airport’s restricted-area transfers separate, sets out both ferry operators’ schedules and gives the crossing costs in the currencies you actually pay.

Suggested time
4 days, 3 nights: 1 Hong Kong before, 1 Macau, 1 Hong Kong after; day trip separately priced
Where to stay
The Salisbury – YMCA of Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui (two separate nights); Hotel Sintra, Macau Peninsula (one night)
Season and timing
Run the city walks around the weather and give the return crossing a buffer night before flying. Operator-specific typhoon and rainstorm advice is below.

The short answer

Book four days and three nights: one in Tsim Sha Tsui before Macau, one at Hotel Sintra on the Macau Peninsula and one back in Tsim Sha Tsui before departure. Reserve both Hong Kong suite stays and the Macau room, then the ferries. Fares checked on 2026-10-16: Cotai Class tickets bought in Hong Kong cost HK$192 for weekday day sailings, HK$209 for weekend or public-holiday day sailings and HK$242 for night sailings. Cotai Class tickets bought in Macau cost MOP$192 for weekday day sailings, MOP$209 for weekend or public-holiday day sailings and MOP$242 for night sailings. Use a weekday daytime ferry each way for the overnight model. Entry to Macau and return entry to Hong Kong need separate checks; the Macau room price still has to be added to the two-currency subtotal.

Four days, three nights, with Hong Kong at both ends

Keep one Hong Kong night before Macau and one after it. The dated example is Monday 26 to Thursday 29 October 2026: two separate stays at The Salisbury – YMCA of Hong Kong in Tsim Sha Tsui, with Tuesday night at Hotel Sintra on the Macau Peninsula. The last Hong Kong night leaves room for a delayed crossing before departure day. The Hong Kong hotel guide explains the neighbourhood choices.

Room offer checked on 2026-10-16: The Salisbury – YMCA of Hong Kong’s 125 Memories of Love offer costs HK$1,901 per City View Suite per night, plus a 10% service charge. The Salisbury offer includes buffet breakfast for two registered guests at The Haven. The Salisbury offer runs until 15 December 2026, excluding 1–5 May, 1–7 July and 1–7 October, with all blackout dates inclusive. The Salisbury offer is subject to availability, must be confirmed and guaranteed at least 7 days before check-in, and is non-refundable, with cancellation charged at 100% of the entire stay. The Salisbury offer cannot be combined with other promotions and does not apply to existing reservations or groups. Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights add HK$200 per room per night, plus a 10% service charge on that supplement. The Salisbury is exempt from hotel accommodation tax.

Book the two Salisbury stays separately for 26 and 28 October, then reserve the Macau room and both ferries. Hotel Sintra is on Avenida de D. João IV in Macau; the Macau night is priced in the budget section.

  • Day 1, Monday — Hong Kong: arrive in Tsim Sha Tsui, leave bags and walk the Clock Tower and Avenue of Stars waterfront. Try beef balls at Tak Fat. Night: Salisbury, Hong Kong.
  • Day 2, Tuesday — to Macau: take the Tsuen Wan Line to Central and walk to Sheung Wan’s terminal; aim for Cotai Water Jet’s 10:30 sailing to Taipa. Take bus 26 to stop T326 and bus 22 to Praça Ferreira Amaral, leave bags at Sintra, then walk Senado Square and the Ruins of St Paul’s. Night: Hotel Sintra, Macau.
  • Day 3, Wednesday — Taipa, Coloane and back: check out with cabin luggage and set off for Taipa in the morning. Aim for the Taipa Houses at 10:00, an early lunch at António at 11:00 and Coloane around 13:00. Make 13:30 your decision point for leaving Coloane and aim to be at Taipa Ferry Terminal by 14:45 for the 16:00 ferry. These are planning targets, not bus arrival times; the sequence and fallback are below. Back in Hong Kong, walk to Central, take MTR to Tsim Sha Tsui and return to Salisbury. Night: Hong Kong.
  • Day 4, Thursday — departure: breakfast, a last waterfront walk and departure from Hong Kong. International flights and airport access are separate from this city-to-city model.

Choose the crossing by where your day starts

Ordinary adult single fares checked on 2026-10-16. For the Tsim Sha Tsui hotel model, choose the city ferry and use the two priced MTR rides. For an airport or Lantau start, compare the bridge with the port access below.

  • Cotai Water Jet — Taipa: Cotai Water Jet takes about one hour between Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal and Macau Taipa Ferry Terminal. Cotai Class tickets bought in Hong Kong cost HK$192 for weekday day sailings, HK$209 for weekend or public-holiday day sailings and HK$242 for night sailings. Cotai Class tickets bought in Macau cost MOP$192 for weekday day sailings, MOP$209 for weekend or public-holiday day sailings and MOP$242 for night sailings. This is the route priced in the overnight and day-trip models.
  • TurboJET — Outer Harbour or Taipa: TurboJET’s Hong Kong–Macau crossings take about 60 minutes. TurboJET Economy Class from Macau Taipa to Sheung Wan cost HK$194 for weekday day sailings, HK$212 for weekend or public-holiday day sailings and HK$242 for night sailings, including Hong Kong departure tax. TurboJET’s fare page lists only the Taipa to Sheung Wan table; for the fare from Hong Kong and for Outer Harbour sailings, check its booking system before you buy. Outer Harbour puts you on the peninsula; Taipa suits the island part of the visit.
  • HZMB Shuttle Bus — border port to border port: The HZMB port shuttle runs between Hong Kong Port and Macau Port 24 hours a day. From Hong Kong, the Hong Kong–Macau HZMB shuttle’s standard single fare from Hong Kong was HK$65 between 06:00 and 23:59 and HK$70 between 00:00 and 05:59. From Macau, the Macau–Hong Kong HZMB shuttle’s standard single fare from Macau was MOP$65 or HK$65 between 06:00 and 23:59, and MOP$70 or HK$70 between 00:00 and 05:59. Local buses and immigration add to this journey.

What fits around the crossing

The red-brick Clock Tower beside the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront survives from the old Kowloon–Canton Railway terminus. Continue along the Avenue of Stars, where the film tributes give the harbour walk something to look at between skyline views. Plaques, handprints and statues on the Avenue of Stars celebrate Hong Kong cinema, including Bruce Lee and Anita Mui.

Senado Square is the historic urban centre and a venue for public celebrations. The Ruins of St Paul’s preserve the façade of the Church of Mater Dei, which was destroyed by fire in 1835. The square, lanes and church façade make a satisfying arrival-afternoon walk without a paid attraction; Hotel Sintra lists Senado Square as a 5 to 10-minute stroll from the hotel. View the façade from outside; an interior museum visit would need its own opening-hours check. The Historic Centre guide gives the longer walk.

The Taipa Houses are five green former residences along Avenida da Praia, beside Our Lady of Carmel Church and its garden. The Macanese Living Museum in the Taipa Houses recreates scenes of daily life from Macau’s past. Access checked on 2026-10-16: The Taipa Houses open 10:00–19:00, with last admission at 18:30, and close on Mondays. Admission to the Taipa Houses is free. The Cultural Affairs Bureau lists route 22 among the bus routes near the Taipa Houses. Continue through Rua do Cunha before lunch. Rua do Cunha is a pedestrian street in the heart of Taipa village, lined with longstanding restaurants.

Coloane’s old fishing-village streets have cafés, art spaces and murals. The cream-and-white Chapel of St Francis Xavier faces the village square; walk its exterior and the waterfront before returning to the ferry. MGTO describes the Chapel of St Francis Xavier as a baroque chapel with oval windows and a bell tower. Keep beaches and Cotai resort visits for an extra day: the route already includes a village lunch and two immigration crossings.

Buy Cotai Water Jet tickets through its website, smartphone app or terminal ticket offices; phone and email bookings are unavailable. Collect Cotai Water Jet tickets at least 30 minutes before departure. For Cotai Water Jet departures from Sheung Wan or Taipa, collect or buy the ticket, pass the check-in gate and immigration, collect a seat assignment and board. Buy the outward ticket in Hong Kong and the return at the Taipa office in Macau for the two-currency example; buy it on arrival on day 2 rather than leaving the purchase until the last bus.

Luggage and change charges checked on 2026-10-16: Cotai Water Jet includes one hand-carried bag weighing no more than 20 kg and measuring no more than 56 × 36 × 23 cm. Reserve Cotai Water Jet’s checked-luggage service with customer service by 16:00 the day before departure; spaces are limited and allocated first come, first served. For Cotai Water Jet checked luggage, arrive 30–45 minutes before departure; the service operates 08:30–21:00 in Hong Kong and 10:00–22:00 in Macau. Cotai Water Jet charged HK$25 cash per checked bag up to 20 kg from Hong Kong, or HK$25/MOP$25 cash from Macau; each bag must fit within 76 × 23 × 56 cm and each passenger may check up to two bags. Full-fare Cotai Water Jet city-route tickets bought through its own terminal offices, website or app can be changed at a terminal ticket office at least one hour before the original departure for HK$30 or MOP$30 per ticket. The model uses cabin luggage only.

TurboJET: Outer Harbour or a smaller Taipa timetable

Timetable checked on 2026-10-16: Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal is on the third floor of Shun Tak Centre, 200 Connaught Road Central, Sheung Wan. From 16 October 2026, TurboJET departures from Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan to Macau Outer Harbour run from 07:30 to 22:30. From 16 October 2026, TurboJET departures from Macau Outer Harbour to Sheung Wan run from 07:30 to 23:00. Outer Harbour is on the Macau Peninsula; Taipa is the island-side terminal. The city departures described here leave Sheung Wan; China Ferry Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui is a different pier.

Sheung Wan → Outer Harbour, effective 16 October 2026: 07:30, 08:30, 09:00, 09:30, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 12:30, 13:00, 14:00, 14:30, 15:30, 16:00, 16:30, 17:00, 18:00, 19:30, 20:30, 21:30 and 22:30. From 16 October 2026, TurboJET sails from Sheung Wan to Macau Taipa at 10:30, 11:30, 15:00 and 19:00. From 16 October 2026, TurboJET sails from Macau Taipa to Sheung Wan at 13:30, 17:00, 20:30 and 21:30.

Fees checked on 2026-10-16: TurboJET treats departures at 18:30 or later as night sailings. TurboJET lists a non-refundable HK$10 handling charge per online ticket, waived during promotional periods except for individual promotions. Hong Kong or Macau public holidays use the holiday fare.

Book TurboJET through its online booking service and collect the tickets at its terminal ticket offices or self-service kiosks. Allow at least 30 minutes before a TurboJET departure for travel-document checks. Before boarding TurboJET, you must meet the entry requirements of both Hong Kong and Macau. Check the cancellation and amendment terms in TurboJET’s booking system before paying.

Luggage charges checked on 2026-10-16: TurboJET includes one hand-carried bag weighing no more than 20 kg and measuring no more than 60 × 20 × 35 cm. TurboJET accepts luggage check-in from 45 to 20 minutes before departure. TurboJET’s standard checked-bag tariff for up to 20 kg within 76 × 56 × 28 cm was HK$35 or MOP$35 per piece; Premier VIP Cabin and Premier Grand Class include two standard-size checked pieces free. For an Outer Harbour arrival, Transmac 102X serves M239 Terminal Marítimo de Passageiros do Porto Exterior before M263 Rua Cidade de Sintra; its cash fare is MOP$6. This is an alternative arrival, outside the Cotai model.

The city and village access legs

Hong Kong fares checked on 2026-10-16: The Tsuen Wan Line links Central and Tsim Sha Tsui; the adult Octopus or contactless single fare is HK$10.60. MTR accepts Visa, Mastercard and UnionPay contactless credit, debit and prepaid cards, excluding UnionPay debit cards; use the same physical card or device to tap in and out at the designated gates. From Salisbury, walk to Tsim Sha Tsui station, ride to Central and walk west to Shun Tak Centre. Reverse that sequence after the Macau return. This uses the priced Central crossing rather than assuming an onward Sheung Wan fare. On weekdays outside peak hours, Island Line trains run every 3.6–5 minutes and Tsuen Wan Line trains every 3.5–5 minutes; early morning and late evening gaps can be up to 12 minutes. Use the MTR Trip Planner for your stations’ fare, route and first and last trains. Each adult needs their own card or device; no advance seat booking is needed.

Macau routes and fares checked on 2026-10-16: The cash bus fare is MOP$6 per journey; bring the exact fare because buses give no change. Pay on boarding; routes 26 and 26A need no seat reservation. Day 2: board Transmac 26 at T345 Terminal Marítimo de Passageiros da Taipa towards Bacia Norte do Patane and ride to T326, the stop with the LRT interchange; there board TCM 22 on its return leg towards Praça Ferreira Amaral and ride to M172 Praça Ferreira Amaral, the same stop you use on Day 3. The hotel’s own site lists the Macau Taipa Ferry Terminal as a 25-minute drive; a metered taxi is the fallback and is outside the bus subtotal. Day 3: walk to M172 Praça Ferreira Amaral and take TCM 22 towards Taipa to T320 Rua do Cunha; after lunch take 22 again from T320 to T324 Estádio de Macau, then 26A towards Hac Sá to C660 Assoc. de M. de Coloane. Walk around Coloane, then board 26 at C686 Vila de Coloane/Posto de Saúde towards Bacia Norte do Patane to T345 Taipa Ferry Terminal. That is six bus boardings per person over the Macau stay.

Route 26A’s terminal departures run from 06:00 to 00:30 towards Hac Sa and from 06:00 to 01:00 towards Bacia Norte do Patane. Its published frequency range is 8–15 minutes Monday–Saturday except public holidays, and 10–16 minutes on Sundays and public holidays. Route 26 leaves its starting terminus from 06:00 to 23:30 daily; published frequencies range from 16–25 minutes Monday–Saturday except public holidays, and 20–25 minutes on Sundays and public holidays. TCM 22 runs from 06:15 to 00:10 daily, with published frequencies of 4–10 minutes Monday–Saturday except public holidays and 8–10 minutes on Sundays and public holidays. Terminal departure spans are not first and last departures at intermediate stops; intermediate-stop departures depend on traffic. The Taipa and Coloane guide describes the village walks if you extend the stay.

Work backward from the 16:00 ferry: ticket collection is due by 15:30; the 14:45 terminal target leaves extra time for immigration and finding the gate. Keep the Taipa Houses visit to the morning and lunch early. At 13:30, finish the Coloane walk and go to C686 for northbound route 26. If your morning or lunch runs late, skip Coloane and use a metered taxi to the terminal; that contingency fare is outside the bus subtotal. DSAT publishes no journey times between route 26 stops and no walking distances to the sights, so 14:45 is a target and the taxi is the fallback.

HZMB: a port shuttle with access journeys at both ends

The port service is operated by HZMB Shuttle Bus; DSAT lists its official website in the sources below. Choose the bridge if Hong Kong’s airport or Lantau is your actual start, or you need an overnight crossing. From the central-city hotel, the ferry avoids travelling out to a bridge port first. The Hong Kong Transport Department lists HZMB shuttle departures every 5 minutes at peak times, 10–15 minutes off peak and 15–30 minutes overnight. At HZMB Hong Kong Port, complete departure clearance in the Passenger Clearance Building before taking the shuttle to Macau Port. At Macau Port, complete Macau entry after the ride. Returning, clear Macau departure, ride the Hong Kong-bound shuttle and complete Hong Kong entry before taking local transport. The Hong Kong Transport Department gives approximately 42 km between Hong Kong Port and Macau Port; time in the border halls comes on top of the road journey.

Bridge ticket conditions checked on 2026-10-16: Two adults therefore pay HK$130 outbound and MOP$130 for a Macau-paid daytime return, before the local access legs. At Macau Port, buy HZMB shuttle tickets from the terminal ticket office, self-service machines or online ticketing system. At Macau Port, HZMB shuttle tickets can be paid for in patacas, Hong Kong dollars, renminbi or the designated electronic payment methods. The operator sells tickets at counters and self-service ticket machines at Hong Kong Port as well as Macau Port, and online tickets are collected at the place you choose. Each ticket carries one free bag of up to 20 kg and 76 × 51 × 32 cm; the operator charges RMB29 or HK$33 for each extra bag, bought at the manned ticket counter. The operator does not list the payment methods accepted at Hong Kong Port; ask at the counter. Allow extra time for both border checks.

Hong Kong port access checked on 2026-10-16: New Lantao Bus B4 is the circular airport-terminal–Hong Kong Port link, at HK$9.80 per ride. From the port, departures run every 15 minutes at 06:00–00:00, every 30 minutes at 00:00–01:00 and 05:00–06:00, and hourly at 01:00–05:00. Pay exact Hong Kong dollar cash or Octopus on boarding. These are port departure times; the airport is an intermediate stop. B6 links Tung Chung and the port, while MTR and local access from the city are additional costs outside the bridge-only subtotal.

Macau port access checked on 2026-10-16: TCM 101X links M800 HZMB Macau Port with the peninsula, including M135 Almeida Ribeiro/Tai Fung inbound and M172 Praça Ferreira Amaral; the return serves M134 Almeida Ribeiro/OCBC. The fare is MOP$6 per boarding, paid on the bus. Its port departures span 00:00–23:50 daily, with published gaps of 8–30 minutes Monday–Friday excluding public holidays and 6–30 minutes at weekends and on public holidays. Transmac 102X is an alternative for Taipa/Cotai access, serving, from Macau Port towards Hengqin, T402 Chun Lai Garden and T324 Estádio de Macau; its terminal service span is 06:00–00:00 and the fare is MOP$6. Use only the stops for the Macau journey described here. Mainland China needs its own entry check; this site does not cover it.

Airport access example, two adults, daytime both ways: use B4 between HKG and Hong Kong Port, the Hong Kong–Macau shuttle, then 101X between Macau Port and the peninsula. Four B4 boardings cost HK$39.20; the two Hong Kong-origin shuttle tickets cost HK$130. Two Macau-origin shuttle tickets cost MOP$130 and four 101X boardings cost MOP$24. The transport subtotal is HK$169.20 and MOP$154, kept separate. NLB’s published 22 minutes is for B4’s complete circular route, not a promised airport–port leg. Add waits, immigration and the Macau local bus to your plan.

Tsim Sha Tsui access example, two adults, daytime both ways: Citybus A21 connects East Tsim Sha Tsui Station on Salisbury Road with the HZMB Passenger Clearance Building in the port-bound direction, returning via Hong Kong Port. The Transport Department lists its full-route fare at HK$34.60 and full-route journey time at 84 minutes. Allocating that full fare to each of four access rides gives an allowance of about HK$268.40 and MOP$154 with the same shuttle and 101X legs. This assumes the full A21 fare for each ride; it is not a quoted short-leg fare. The 84 minutes covers the complete Hung Hom–airport route, not the hotel–port ride or whole border journey. Check Citybus’s live A21 departures; no through departure time is promised.

Entry out of Hong Kong and back again

Carry the travel document you will use for both destinations and check both entry permissions before buying non-refundable rooms. A Macau visit involves a Hong Kong departure, a Macau arrival, a Macau departure and a fresh Hong Kong arrival; an earlier Hong Kong admission is not a promise of re-entry. Use the Hong Kong entry guide and Macau entry guide for passport-specific arrangements.

Your passport or accepted travel document must be valid for at least 90 days beyond your intended stay in Macau. Visitors must hold an onward or return ticket unless they can prove that they live in mainland China or Hong Kong; this exemption does not apply to Chinese or Hong Kong SAR passport holders transiting Macau to another destination. Visitors must be able to show means of support of at least MOP$5,000 for a stay of up to 7 days, MOP$10,000 for 8–14 days, MOP$15,000 for 15–21 days, or MOP$20,000 for a longer stay. Visitors do not need to complete arrival or departure cards for Hong Kong immigration clearance. Visa-free eligibility does not guarantee entry to Hong Kong. Passport-validity requirements depend on the passport and entry arrangement. For travellers on a full British citizen passport from the UK, the passport must remain valid for at least one month after the planned departure from Hong Kong. German travel documents must remain valid for at least one month beyond the intended Hong Kong stay.

Examples checked on 2026-10-16: British citizens can visit Hong Kong visa-free for up to 180 days. British citizens holding a British passport can stay in Macau visa-free for up to 6 months. Japanese passport holders can visit Hong Kong visa-free for up to 90 days. Japanese and South Korean passport holders can stay in Macau visa-free for up to 90 days. US passport holders other than diplomatic passport holders can visit Hong Kong visa-free for up to 90 days. US ordinary-passport holders and Canadian and Australian passport holders can stay in Macau visa-free for up to 30 days. Visitors from Bangladesh, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Vietnam must obtain a Macau visa in advance through a Chinese embassy or consulate. Other passports and special travel documents have their own arrangements.

The warning that changes the return booking

Typhoons affect Hong Kong from May to November and can cause flooding and landslides; when Typhoon Signal No. 8 or higher is issued, public offices and public transport shut down, so get indoors and do not set out again until the Hong Kong Observatory lowers the signal and your operator confirms service. From Signal No. 3, stay away from the shore and avoid water activities, and under a Black Rainstorm Warning expect serious disruption and closures of public facilities and follow the Hong Kong Observatory and local authorities’ instructions. Typhoons hit Macau regularly between April and November and can cause flooding and landslides; public offices shut when Typhoon Signal No. 8 is issued, and from Signal No. 3 you should stay away from the shore and avoid water activities. Follow the Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau’s warnings and local authorities’ instructions, and check with the operator before any ferry crossing. Operator rules add to this: TurboJET lists possible changes to Hong Kong–Macau sailings at Typhoon Signal No. 3 and suspends all ferry services until further notice at Signal No. 8, and Cotai Water Jet may suspend services for safety at Strong Wind Signal No. 3 and suspends all sailings at Signal No. 8 or higher. The HZMB may close in severe weather and public transport may stop; check the latest bridge and service announcements.

For a TurboJET sailing affected by a weather suspension, request a refund or sailing change within one month; tickets bought through a travel agent must be refunded through that agent. For Cotai Water Jet, follow the cancellation arrangements for the affected sailing and the channel through which you bought it.

A two-adult subtotal, and the separate day trip

Prices checked on 2026-10-16. The four-day model is two adults sharing one City View Suite on 26 and 28 October 2026, a private double/twin requested for two adults at Sintra on 27 October, Cotai Class ferries and cabin luggage only. Start and finish in Tsim Sha Tsui; meals other than the two included hotel breakfasts, flights, airport access, extra luggage, optional paid sights and extra taxis are excluded.

Hong Kong-dollar subtotal: HK$4,608.60. Two nonconsecutive Salisbury nights: 2 × HK$1,901 × 1.10 = HK$4,182.20, including service and with no HAT under the exemption. Two outward Cotai tickets bought in Hong Kong: 2 × HK$192 = HK$384. Two adults on the Tsim Sha Tsui–Central MTR in each direction: 4 × HK$10.60 = HK$42.40. Walk between Central and Sheung Wan and around the Hong Kong waterfront.

Pataca subtotal: MOP$456. Buy two weekday-day return tickets at the Taipa counter in Macau: 2 × MOP$192 = MOP$384. The six named Macau bus boardings for each of two adults cost 12 × MOP$6 = MOP$72. The outdoor peninsula walk and Taipa Houses add no ticket to this model. The Macau room is not in either subtotal: Hotel Sintra’s website lists no nightly rate by room category, and its own Stay & See package, valid until 31 December 2026, starts from MOP750++ for one night with two Macau Tower Observation Deck tickets, plus a 10% service charge and 5% tourism tax, with full prepayment and no cancellation or amendment. Meals are excluded. Keep the HK$ and MOP$ amounts separate rather than adding their numerals.

Day trip, priced separately: leave Sheung Wan at 07:30, follow the same peninsula–Taipa–Coloane bus loop, and return on the 20:00 ferry. Two outward Cotai tickets plus the two-adult MTR return cost HK$426.40; two Macau-bought night-fare return tickets and twelve bus boardings cost MOP$556. This has no Macau room and no Hong Kong hotel allowance. Drop Coloane if immigration or bus delays eat into the afternoon; an evening return leaves less recovery time than the overnight plan.

Optional: SkyPier and flight-transfer coaches

Use this section only when connecting with a flight through HKG’s restricted transfer system. For the Hong Kong city stay and ferry model, use Sheung Wan; these airport products do not replace it.

Airport services checked on 2026-10-16: SkyPier ferry services are for airport transit passengers and cannot be used after entering Hong Kong through immigration. For an air-to-sea transfer at Hong Kong International Airport, stay in the transit area and present your baggage identification tag at the Air/Sea Transfer Desk so the operator can reclaim your bag. For a TurboJET air-to-sea transfer, carry a valid ferry ticket, a valid passport and any visa required for Macau, and transfer on the day you arrive at Hong Kong International Airport. For a standard same-day TurboJET sea-to-air transfer, carry a valid ferry ticket, a confirmed air ticket for that day and a passport valid for at least six months, with any visas required for the onward destination. Cotai Water Jet’s HKIA SkyPier–Macau Taipa route was available for charter only. Confirm any TurboJET SkyPier sailing directly before arranging an airport connection. These services cannot replace the Sheung Wan ferry after a Hong Kong city stay. The operator’s six-month passport rule is specific to that airport-transfer product; destination entry rules are separate.

Macau HK Airport Direct links Hong Kong International Airport’s SkyPier Terminal with HZMB Macau Port. The operator lists 22 daily departures each way: Macau → HKIA from 07:30 to 20:30 and HKIA → Macau from 08:30 to 21:30, with a scheduled 45-minute coach ride. Its regular adult fare table is MOP$280 each way. Buy through the operator’s website or counter, exchange an online confirmation for a paper ticket, and book within 30 days of departure. The fare includes one bag up to 23 kg with total dimensions at most 158 cm; the baggage section lists HK$90 for an extra bag and another HK$90 for an overweight bag up to 32 kg.

From HKG to Macau: keep the same-day arrival boarding pass or e-ticket, a valid coach ticket, passport and any Macau visa. Stay airside: do not pass immigration or collect baggage. Go to the E2 transfer coach counter; the operator recommends at least 90 minutes between flight arrival and coach departure. Complete check-in at least 60 minutes before departure with checked luggage, presenting its airline baggage receipt, or at least 30 minutes before without checked luggage.

From Macau to HKG: the coach needs a confirmed same-day flight with a participating airline, a valid coach ticket, passport and any onward visas. The operator recommends reaching the Macau ticket/check-in counter 90 minutes before the coach; check-in closes 45 minutes before departure. Add the coach’s 45-minute ride to the airline’s minimum connection time. For eligible flights departing at or before 13:15, the last coach the previous day may be used under the operator’s participating-airline arrangement. Remain in the restricted area at SkyPier; staff, companion, complimentary, open or unconfirmed tickets are not accepted. This flight-transfer coach is separate from the ordinary HZMB port shuttle; a landside city-to-airport coach needs its own product and conditions.

Practical questions

Can I do Macau as a day trip from Hong Kong?

Yes. The separate day-trip model uses the 07:30 Cotai ferry out and the 20:00 return, with a peninsula–Taipa–Coloane loop between them. For two adults, allow HK$426.40 and MOP$556 for the named transport at prices checked on 2026-10-16, before meals or hotels. The overnight version gives the historic centre and villages more breathing room.

Which Hong Kong pier and Macau terminal should I book?

Use Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan for the TurboJET and Cotai city services described here. TurboJET serves Macau Outer Harbour and Taipa; Cotai Water Jet serves Taipa. Check the actual terminal on each ticket because the Macau last-mile route changes with it.

Can I use SkyPier after staying in Hong Kong?

SkyPier ferry and transfer-coach services are for eligible air passengers in the restricted transfer system. After entering Hong Kong through immigration, use the city ferry or a landside transport product instead. The airport section gives the same-day flight, airline and baggage conditions.

Does a Hong Kong visa or visa-free visit cover Macau too?

No. Check Macau admission separately and check that you can enter Hong Kong again after the Macau visit. Carry the passport, any required visas, accommodation details, onward ticket and funds for the trip.

Is the bridge always available when ferries stop?

No. The bridge can close in severe weather too. Keep the final Hong Kong night as a buffer, use the official live warnings and operator announcements, and follow the refund channel for the ticket you bought.
