Philippines entry requirements: documents, visa checks and eTravel
Entry preparation belongs before the first non-refundable outing. Your travel document, nationality and onward journey determine which official instructions apply; another visitor’s experience is not a decision about your own eligibility. Keep visa questions separate from the electronic arrival declaration and from the permission recorded at immigration. A hotel reservation helps organise the trip, but it does not itself establish the right to enter or remain.

- Suggested time
- Check before reservations and again shortly before departure
- Where to stay
- One confirmed first-night hotel with a complete address
- Season and timing
- Check the forecast and route-specific official notices before each outdoor or marine outing. Regional climate patterns do not guarantee conditions on your travel date.
The short answer
Check the Philippines visa authorities for your own document and circumstances, then use the official eTravel channel. The eTravel FAQ read on 3 October 2026 describes free registration for covered arriving passengers within 72 hours or 3 days before arrival, with specified exceptions. Save the submitted QR code and review the actual admission record after entry. Do not infer a universal visa exemption or permitted stay from this planning guide.
Check document and visa eligibility separately
Use the official immigration or Philippine visa channel for the issuing country and type of document you carry. The eVisa tourism policy provides document and onward-travel conditions, but nationality-specific exceptions need their own current check. Review names and expiry details against flight bookings before paying for activities.
If the answer depends on a special passport, residence status or other-country visa, present those exact facts to the appropriate authority or airline. Avoid treating a generic list shared by a hotel as a replacement for the current official rule.
Use the free official eTravel service
As checked on 3 October 2026, eTravel’s official FAQ said registration and updates are free and described a 72-hour / three-day window. It covers arriving Filipino and foreign passengers and crew, plus departing Filipino passengers, with stated diplomatic and official categories excepted. Read the live FAQ for your circumstances and use etravel.gov.ph.
Complete the declaration using the final flight and accommodation details and save the QR code before leaving the page. The electronic travel record is not a visa or a guarantee of admission. If details change, follow the official editing instructions instead of creating an improvised substitute document.

Make time for the local food
What to eat and where to look
Sinigang
Choose a pork, boneless milkfish, shrimp or salmon-with-miso soup version from Gerry’s Filipino menu.
- Where to look
- Gerry’s operator lists an Ayala Circuit Makati branch; choose this or another actual branch whose address fits your mainland base, then confirm its current menu.
- Fit it into your day
- A seated main meal with rice after arrival or between excursions.
Ask about broth, seafood, sauces and any ingredient exclusions.
Beef kare-kare
A beef main dish on Gerry’s Filipino menu; ask the kitchen about its sauce, condiments and nut ingredients.
- Where to look
- Gerry’s operator lists an Ayala Circuit Makati branch; choose this or another actual branch whose address fits your mainland base, then confirm its current menu.
- Fit it into your day
- A shared restaurant dinner; order an amount that leaves room for the next day’s plans.
Ask specifically about nuts, sauce, condiments and preparation.
Banana turon
A banana dessert on Gerry’s menu, to order after a main meal rather than as provisions for a long boat day.
- Where to look
- Gerry’s operator lists an Ayala Circuit Makati branch; choose this or another actual branch whose address fits your mainland base, then confirm its current menu.
- Fit it into your day
- Optional sweet after lunch, not a substitute for provisions on a boat day.
Check wrapper, filling, dairy and other ingredients with the seller.
Prepare supporting information without guessing admission
Keep your hotel address, contact details and onward itinerary accessible when the phone has no connection. Follow current instructions from the immigration authority and airline concerning documents they need to see. Ask about children’s or unusual travel arrangements separately if applicable.
After entry, check the permission actually granted and any conditions recorded by immigration. Visa validity, declaration completion and allowed length of stay are different matters. If you need to extend or change status, use the Bureau of Immigration rather than assuming the next domestic flight solves it.

Give arrival a flexible finish
Choose a meal close to the first hotel and keep a short walk optional. Clearance, baggage and transfer should not compete with a paid tour meeting time. Book the substantial neighbourhood or island outing for a settled day when its true starting point is clear.
For an international transit, decide whether you will pass immigration and whether your documents permit that before arranging a city excursion. A long connection is not automatically permission to leave the airport. Keep customs and item-specific checks with the responsible authority; this guide does not settle medicine or import questions.

Practical questions
Is eTravel a visa?
No. Use the official visa and immigration rules separately for your document.
Does official eTravel charge a fee?
The FAQ checked on 3 October 2026 says registration/update is free. Use the official site.
Can this guide guarantee entry or stay length?
No. Admission and the permission granted are decided by immigration under the applicable rules.
Should I reserve a fixed tour on arrival?
Prefer a later settled day; leave clearance, luggage and hotel arrival flexible.
