How much does a trip to Vietnam cost? 2027 budget for 7 days

A week in northern Vietnam, with Hanoi's Old Quarter, a night on a Ha Long Bay cruise and two days among the limestone of Ninh Binh, is easy on the wallet: a street-food meal with iced tea costs about VND 45,000, by the national tourism authority's reckoning, and most sights cost VND 20,000-150,000. The one big cost is the cruise. This guide prices the whole week at three levels, with every room, meal, ride, ticket and SIM included, then adds the flight from Europe.

The short answer

A 7-day trip to northern Vietnam (Hanoi, Ha Long Bay and Ninh Binh) in April 2027 costs about VND 9.6 million per person on a budget (about EUR 340), VND 17.5 million mid-range (about EUR 620) or VND 30.4 million in comfort (about EUR 1,080), for two people sharing a room and a cruise cabin, with all meals, transport, sights, a SIM and a 10% buffer. A return flight from London adds about GBP 800-1,000 per person.

Flights and the total with flights

Vietnam Airlines flies from London to Hanoi. Allow about GBP 800-1,000 per person (about VND 27-34 million) for an economy return in April; the airport charges are included in the fare.

With that flight, the whole trip comes to about VND 36.7-43.5 million per person on a budget, VND 44.6-51.4 million mid-range or VND 57.5-64.3 million in comfort. Tipping is not expected in restaurants and cafes, though it is appreciated; guides and spa staff are tipped more often. The buffer covers it.
