How much does a trip to Sri Lanka cost? 2027 budget for 7 days
A week in Sri Lanka, from the rock at Sigiriya to the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy, the hill train to Ella and a last night in Colombo, is cheap at the table: rice and curry of the day costs LKR 1,700 at Cafe Chill in Ella. The big costs are the car with a driver for the long road legs and the tickets at the foreign visitor rate, with Sigiriya alone at LKR 11,760 each. This guide prices the whole week at three levels, with every room, meal, ride, train seat, ticket and SIM included, then adds the flight from Europe.

The short answer
A 7-day trip to Sri Lanka (Sigiriya, Dambulla, Kandy, Ella and Colombo) in January 2027 costs about LKR 166,200 per person on a budget (about EUR 450), LKR 247,300 mid-range (about EUR 670) or LKR 543,300 in comfort (about EUR 1,470), for two people sharing a room, with all meals, cars with a driver for the road legs, the Kandy to Ella train, rides, tickets, a SIM and a 10% buffer. A return flight from London adds about GBP 750-1,000 per person.
The totals
| Level | Per person, about LKR | For two, about LKR |
|---|---|---|
| Budget | 166,200 (EUR 450) | 332,400 |
