How much does a trip to Taiwan cost? 2027 budget for 7 days
A week in Taiwan, from Taipei's night markets to the boats on Sun Moon Lake and the temples of Tainan, is easy to do well on a modest budget. An oyster omelette costs TWD 90, a railway bento TWD 100 and most historic sites in Tainan TWD 70. The high-speed train is the one large transport cost. This guide prices the whole week at three levels, with every room, meal, train, boat, ticket and SIM included, then adds the flight from Europe.

- Suggested time
- 7 days, 6 nights: 3 in Taipei, 1 at Sun Moon Lake, 2 in Tainan.
- Where to stay
- Taipei Main Station or Zhongshan; Shuishe village at Sun Moon Lake; West Central District in Tainan.
- Season and timing
- Priced for 19-25 April 2027, in spring and before the usual typhoon season; April is a busy time at Sun Moon Lake.
The short answer
A 7-day trip to Taiwan (Taipei, Sun Moon Lake and Tainan) in April 2027 costs about TWD 19,600 per person on a budget (about EUR 540), TWD 29,500 mid-range (about EUR 810) or TWD 66,400 in comfort (about EUR 1,820), for two people sharing a room, with all meals, the high-speed train, the lake boat and ropeway, sights, a SIM and a 10% buffer. A return flight from London adds about GBP 900-1,200 per person.
The totals
| Level | Per person, about TWD | For two, about TWD |
|---|---|---|
| Budget | 19,600 (EUR 540) | 39,200 |
| Mid-range | 29,500 (EUR 810) | 59,000 |
| Comfort | 66,400 (EUR 1,820) | 132,800 |
These totals cover everything on the ground for the whole week: rooms, three meals and drinks every day, the Airport MRT, three high-speed train rides, the Sun Moon Lake bus, boat and ropeway, every metro, bus and taxi, the sights on the route, a local SIM and a 10% buffer for snacks, tips and small surprises. Only the international flight is separate, and it is priced at the end. Euro figures use the Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan) closing rate of 20 October 2026 with the ECB cross-rate (EUR 1 = about TWD 36.58).
