Accessible Philippines: verify the complete journey

Accessible travel begins with a complete journey from the arrival terminal to the room and from the room to each activity. A hotel described as accessible does not establish the boat landing, pavement or transfer vehicle. List the features you need and ask each provider for specific answers and photographs of the actual arrangement. This guide does not certify any hotel or route as accessible.

The short answer

Choose a compact base, verify the booked room and transfer, and assess every boarding stage before adding an island crossing. Ask about dimensions, steps and assistance relevant to your own requirements. Where evidence is missing, keep the activity unconfirmed and select a simpler alternative.

Describe the access you need

State chair dimensions, transfer ability and the assistance required, if relevant. Ask about the actual entrance, lift, bathroom, bed approach and any route between the room and restaurant. A general assurance is less useful than a clear account of the obstacle and solution.

The Peninsula Manila’s official address establishes an actual Makati base, not accessible-room availability or features. Contact the hotel about the particular booking. Save the confirmation and ask what happens if the assigned room changes.

Confirm terminal-to-room transport

Check the ticket’s actual airport and terminal, then verify the vehicle and luggage arrangement. Ask how boarding works and whether assistance is provided at the precise pickup point. An airport assistance request and a hotel transfer are separate arrangements.

Clark CRK and Manila MNL are separate airports. A change between them adds a road journey that needs its own vehicle confirmation. Do not accept a generic airport-transfer description as proof that every gateway and mobility requirement is covered.

What to eat and where to look

01

Sinigang

Choose a pork, boneless milkfish, shrimp or salmon-with-miso soup version from Gerry’s Filipino menu.

Where to look
Gerry’s operator lists an Ayala Circuit Makati branch; choose this or another actual branch whose address fits your mainland base, then confirm its current menu.
Fit it into your day
A seated main meal with rice after arrival or between excursions.

Ask about broth, seafood, sauces and any ingredient exclusions.

02

Beef kare-kare

A beef main dish on Gerry’s Filipino menu; ask the kitchen about its sauce, condiments and nut ingredients.

Where to look
Gerry’s operator lists an Ayala Circuit Makati branch; choose this or another actual branch whose address fits your mainland base, then confirm its current menu.
Fit it into your day
A shared restaurant dinner; order an amount that leaves room for the next day’s plans.

Ask specifically about nuts, sauce, condiments and preparation.

03

Banana turon

A banana dessert on Gerry’s menu, to order after a main meal rather than as provisions for a long boat day.

Where to look
Gerry’s operator lists an Ayala Circuit Makati branch; choose this or another actual branch whose address fits your mainland base, then confirm its current menu.
Fit it into your day
Optional sweet after lunch, not a substitute for provisions on a boat day.

Check wrapper, filling, dairy and other ingredients with the seller.

Inspect the landing as well as the boat

For a ferry or excursion, ask about the departure wharf, gangway, vessel boarding and arrival landing. Conditions can affect an otherwise workable arrangement. Confirm the return process as carefully as the outward one. An island name does not identify a particular accessible landing.

Use PAGASA marine checks and carrier notices, and retain a land alternative. If the provider cannot explain how boarding works for your needs, leave the marine activity out of the booked plan. A hotel stay does not require completing every excursion.

Choose verified activities and meals

Ask museums, restaurants and activity providers about the actual entrance, toilets and interior route rather than inferring them from a city address. Keep a nearby meal and rest option so access difficulties do not create another long journey. Ingredient questions remain separate from access questions.

The Manila cooking-class listing inspected on 3 October 2026 said it was not wheelchair accessible and met in Intramuros. Choose another verified activity if that access does not meet your needs; confirm its actual entrance, interior route and toilets before payment.

Practical questions

Does this guide certify hotels as accessible?

No. Named addresses establish real bases; booked room and route features require direct verification.

Is airport assistance the same as a hotel transfer?

No. Arrange each stage and confirm the actual vehicle and meeting point.

Can an accessible ferry guarantee the landing?

No. Check both wharves, boarding and current conditions.

Is the listed Manila cooking class wheelchair accessible?

Its checked listing says it is not; do not assume it meets your needs.
