Makati: an Ayala city base or a separate Poblacion evening
Makati works as an urban stay when you separate the Ayala business district and its walking blocks from a Poblacion food evening. Salcedo and Legaspi add different neighbourhood choices. Match the actual hotel and meeting address to the city day you intend to take.

- Suggested time
- One day for the Ayala Museum area and an evening meal; add a second day for Poblacion or a market visit.
- Where to stay
- Ayala / Makati Avenue CBD
- Season and timing
- Pair the indoor museum with the surrounding Ayala area on rainy days; choose an outdoor market only after checking its current operating date.
The short answer
Choose the hotel district according to the evening you want to repeat. Give the Ayala area one settled walk and a meal, then plan Poblacion separately if its restaurants matter to you. Check the actual entrance and transport back rather than letting a metropolitan map imply every stop is comfortably connected on foot.
Build the first day around Ayala Museum
Ayala Museum is at Makati Avenue corner De La Rosa Street in Greenbelt Park. Start with the collection that appeals to you: its holdings range across Philippine art and culture, including painting, ceramics and objects of daily life. Check the current exhibitions before choosing your ticket.
Keep the adjoining Greenbelt area as the meal and rest block around that visit. Poblacion offers another dining neighbourhood and deserves a separate evening plan, rather than an extra detour that cuts the museum visit short.
Choose the Ayala base for an Ayala day
The Peninsula Manila’s address is the corner of Ayala and Makati Avenues. Despite its name, this hotel is in Makati. An address around this junction is worth comparing for a visit centred on the museum and the central business district.
The Department of Tourism identifies Ayala Station on the MRT along EDSA. Treat the station-to-hotel leg separately from an airport road transfer: they have different entrances and luggage needs. For MNL arrival, use the hotel’s full Makati address and settle in before adding a timed activity.

Make time for the local food
What to eat and where to look

Chicken and pork adobo
The hotel’s July 2024 menu lists chicken/pork with garlic, soy sauce and vinegar.
- Where to look
- Enquire at the Peninsula’s actual Ayala/Makati Avenue property.
- Fit it into your day
- A seated Makati meal around the museum day; confirm the current menu.
Contains meat; confirm soy and the full preparation.
Kare-kare
The dated hotel menu describes beef with peanut and shrimp paste.
- Where to look
- Enquire at the Peninsula’s actual Ayala/Makati Avenue property.
- Fit it into your day
- A seated Makati meal around the museum day; confirm the current menu.
Check peanut and shrimp ingredients.
Bistek Tagalog
The dated hotel menu describes beef with onion and soy-calamansi.
- Where to look
- Enquire at the Peninsula’s actual Ayala/Makati Avenue property.
- Fit it into your day
- A seated Makati meal around the museum day; confirm the current menu.
Contains beef; discuss sauces and dietary requirements.
Choose a meal district, then the dish
Choose chicken-and-pork adobo as a possible main meal: the Peninsula’s July 2024 dining PDF describes garlic, soy sauce and vinegar. Its kare-kare uses beef with peanut and shrimp paste, while bistek uses beef with onion and soy-calamansi. These dated menu descriptions support meal enquiries, not a promise of service on your dates.
Salcedo and Legaspi weekend markets offer a different style of eating when their operating dates match your trip. Check which market is running before moving breakfast there. For a restaurant-led evening, focus on Poblacion and choose the return journey to the hotel before heading out.

Separate a wider Manila outing from the Makati day
Give Ayala Museum, a seated meal and Poblacion separate blocks. A heritage visit in Intramuros belongs to another city journey, with its own transport and meeting point.
Choose any additional experience by its actual itinerary and meeting address. A Makati title or a hotel pickup does not establish that the activity takes place beside your accommodation. Keep the museum and meal as the settled day until the chosen local programme is clear.
Practical questions
Where is Ayala Museum?
At Makati Avenue corner De La Rosa Street, in Greenbelt Park. Check its current exhibitions and visitor information before the visit.
Should I stay in Makati for an Intramuros trip?
Makati suits an Ayala or Poblacion visit. A Manila City base can be more practical when the national museums and Intramuros are the main reason for staying.
Can I rely on a weekend food market?
Check the current operating date for Salcedo or Legaspi market before planning a meal there. Keep a restaurant alternative in the same district.
How should I choose an additional Makati experience?
Read the actual itinerary and meeting address before booking. Keep the museum and meal as the core day when a fitting local programme has not been confirmed.
