The short answer
Use 2 nights each in Kuantan, Cherating, Kuala Terengganu and Redang, then 1 final night in Kuala Terengganu: 9 nights over 10 days. This version arrives through KUA and departs through TGG, with the Redang leg conditional on the actual resort transfer and conditions.
Days 1–2: Kuantan arrival and a town block
KUA is Sultan Ahmad Shah Airport in CAAM’s glossary. Arrange the road journey to your chosen property and keep the first evening modest.
Tourism Pahang identifies the riverfront and Jalan Besar heritage precinct and a separate Tanjung Lumpur food context. Use the full day for a compact town block; do not claim all eating stops are beside the same hotel.
Days 3–4: Cherating as a separate coastal stay
Book the road journey to the actual Cherating property. Tourism Pahang describes a coastal village north of Kuantan with hotels and chalets; a Kuantan arrival does not establish a doorstep island or village transfer.
Choose a relaxed coastal day and an optional individually booked river experience. The Cherating firefly product identity and meeting-point context are indexed; confirm actual arrangements without promising sightings.

Make time for the local food
What to eat and where to look
Nasi dagang
A rice meal named in the Kuantan and Terengganu primary food pages.
- Where to look
- Current Kuantan or Atas Tol/Kuala Terengganu menus.
- Fit it into your day
- A mainland breakfast or lunch before an onward journey.
Ask about the complete recipe, fish and accompaniments.
Keropok lekor
A Terengganu fish-based food named by the council.
- Where to look
- Current Losong or Seberang Takir menus; do not transfer them to Redang.
- Fit it into your day
- A mainland snack alongside a planned ground stop.
Contains fish; check cooking method and sauces.
Laksam
A regional meal named by the council in the Atas Tol food context.
- Where to look
- Ask the actual mainland restaurant about its current preparation.
- Fit it into your day
- Choose before or after the island stay, not as a promised resort buffet item.
Exact recipe is not established here; ask about broth and ingredients.
Days 5–6: Kuala Terengganu city and a separate museum block
Choose a central Kampung Cina property such as the actual Payang address comparison below. Divide a city meal and street block from the State Museum outing at Bukit Losong.
The council describes textile, weapons, Islamic-art and maritime museum context. Its anomalous Shahbandar ticket-counter instruction is not repeated; confirm current museum admission directly.

Days 7–8: Redang only after the resort-specific booking
Choose the actual resort and read its transfer instructions before buying the approach. Laguna’s current primary page describes its own boat from Taman Tamadun Islam jetty; that does not establish a universal Merang or Shahbandar departure.
The resort address is Pasir Panjang on Redang, and its dining page describes buffet and Malaysian/western restaurant options. No specific mainland dish is promised on the island. Confirm actual meals, boat arrangements and weather.

Days 9–10: return to the mainland and depart through TGG
Use day 9 for the confirmed resort boat to its actual mainland jetty, then arrange the ground journey back to the Payang Hotel comparison in Kampung Cina for the ninth night. Confirm the return instructions with the resort; do not assume every property uses the same jetty.
On day 10, book the property-to-TGG road journey for the actual flight. CAAM identifies TGG as Sultan Mahmud Airport. KUA remains this itinerary’s proposed arrival gateway, with no current direct flight or airport bus service guaranteed.
Practical questions
How many nights does this ten-day route need?
Nine: two at each of four proposed stops and one final mainland departure-base night.
Must every Redang stay depart from Merang?
No. The checked Laguna page specifies its own Taman Tamadun Islam jetty. Follow the actual resort’s current instructions.
Are the mainland food ideas guaranteed on Redang?
No. The resort dining source describes formats, not those specific dishes. Confirm current island meals directly.
What is the final mainland base and departure gateway?
This version returns to the Payang Hotel comparison in Kampung Cina for the ninth night, then departs through TGG. Confirm the actual room, resort return and airport transfer.
